Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 57273
page preview (hided) acts as a "pop-up" when start typing
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:30:03 UTC
If page preview is hided and a user start typing it acts as a "pop-up". For someone that likes to save space the only solution is to minimize into a little squere the page preview and keep it unhided. The link is a self-explanatory description of this bug. Note: I report this bug using Linux (with OOo 1.1) but it happens in Windows with OOo 2.0 I have not downloaded OOo 2.0 for Linux to see if it behaves in the same way.

Sorry, not reproducible at the moment. Please add a step by step description. What you seem to do: Open a new draw. Undock the Page Pane. Minimize it (?) Start typing and then the pane comes up in full size? Is that correct? Thanks in advance.
Ah, now I see. Undocking the page pane and closing it via right click or closer will bring it up again after a short time.
This seems generalized cuss there's two ways of reproducing the error. The one you described and the one that I get more often. // I use the Spanish version, some names may vary slightly: 1. Undock the page preview 2. Close it 3. Try to type some text (even a vector, a line, a shape, etc, will have similar results) --> the page preview pops up 4. In the Drawing toolbar > (under) View > Preview (uncheck it) so that the preview doesn't appear anymore 5. Try to type some text (even a vector, a line, a shape, etc, will have similar results) --> the page preview pops up temporal solution: minimize the page preview (into a little square) and ignore it. Note 1: If someone was not able to duplicate it, I can make a more detailed explanation of this issue/bug (later, I want to also see if this happens in the Linux version). Note 2: this doesn't happens if the user never undocks the page preview (although the results are not intuitive and may be confusing), however Drawing can also be used with one page making the preview unnecesary (if the user likes to save space).
