Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5744
non-standard terms for autocomplete/auto input
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
"Word Completion" or "Autocomplete" is used in Writer and is configured in "Autocorrect/Autoformat" menu. But in Calc it is called Auto Input and is activated in menu "Cell contents". I think it is hard to find the autocomplete option under "cell contents", specially if it's called Auto Input. It took me some time to find it. There should be at least a reference (in the manual and the window) so that if someone is looking for autocomplete it would be easy to locate the auto input option.
I'll have a look, Peter
I agree strongly with the need to flag cell-contents->auto-input in the help system, manual, and FAQs even though the auto-input function is not quite the same as autocorrect/autoformat: it seems automatically to complete cell contents with entires taken from higher up the column. This can be very irritating, and very difficult to discover how to turn off. What's more, the changes made by that system can't be corrected by Ctrl-Z/Undo. That flaw may be related to issue #5802
Hi Falko, changing the current state could enhance overall consistancy. Peter
