Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58118
WW8: erroneously numbered paragraph leads to misplaced text
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:22:00 UTC
I have a Word document in which the format differs when opened in OOo. I would give a more detailed description of the problem, but I don't see any place on this form where I can attach the document. How do I attach the documnet? Petre
Okay, I just found that the option to attach a document comes on the next screen. I think that's a bad design, as it's already fairly difficult for people unfamiliar with OOo to navigate to this spot if they want to report a bug. I think that without a provision for attaching a doc while on the page where one describes the problem, many people will just give up. With all that out of the way, here is my description of the problem with the attached document. I am using Word 2000 on Windows 2000 and OOo 1.9.122 on Linux (RH8). -On page 5 under the item numbered 2, in word page 5 gets to the second bullet point under section iii, but OOo only gets to the third bullet point under section i. -It appears that there is more of this 'drift' on page 6 although I am not certain, and the difference between Word's rendering and OOo's may just be spillover from page 5. But it appears to me that the displacement has continued to increase, such that by page 8 in Word, OOo has added an extra half page (page 9). -On page 11/12 (Word/OOo) the word "TOTAL PROJECTED COSTS" and "Schedule" are bolded in OOo, but they are not in Word. -The table at the bottom of page 16 in Word spills onto the next page in OOo.

MRU->FLR: the paragraph "St. Louis Park seeks to enhance...." on page 5 is erroneously in "Numbering/Bullet" context. Thus it gets a wrong indent takes more space from page. MRU->pscheie: second and fourth mentioned problem seems to be a successive issue of the first. For the other problem please file seperate issue, this is a different problem. Please attach a shorter file which is reduced to the described problem.
Regarding the other problem, of the improperly bolded text, I can create a separate, smaller document for demonstrating the problem, but then one of the lines of improperly bolded text renders correctly in the new document. That line is actually part of a picture, not text. I've tried separating those pages into a separate document using Word (I didn't create the doc, it was sent to me) but it only makes a mess. Should I submit the smaller version that only shows the improperly bolded text or submit the whole document which shows the improperly bolded text as well as some improperly bolded words within a picture (which is right above the text)? In either case, I can create a new issue; I'm just unsure as to which document would be more valuable.
