Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58192
[DE] Old spelling "Cosinus" in quickhelp for "Auswahl" window instead of "Kosinus"
Last modified: 2019-10-06 15:05:57 UTC
I have found out that - if you open a new Math document, activate "f(x)" in the "Auswahl" (selection?) window and move your mouse to "cos", the quickhelp says "Cosinus". According to www.duden.de (also in the printed version!) it is "Kosinus".
Pls see my comments and screenshots in issue 58192
back to formula-editor since the german tooltips are neither part of onlinehelp nor l10n framework.
TM->MRU: Please have a look, thanks !
MRU->UFI: the ToolTip for Cosinus must be adapted to Kosinus for German version. The extended Tip shows it correctly.
tooltips are part of source code, not part of online help
I would disagree. If you go to www.duden.de and look vor Cosinus and Cotangans both entries are found (e.g. "Co|si|nus vgl. →Kosinus") that means that both words are actually allowed as well, only that for the description you should look up under the other writing style. And if you use www.langenscheidt.de both entries are known as well and already have a description available without looking at the other writing. And because of the meaning of the first three letters in Kotangens I would always prefer the writing with C instead of K. Please feel free to comment.
@ti: I would disagree with you ... ;) My installed version of the Duden software under Mandriva 2006 does not even know "Cosinus" ... ;) And the other point is: If the extended tip says "Kosinus", the quickhelp should do this also ... ;) Or the extended tip should be changed to "Cosinus" to be consistent ... ;)
Setting component to "formula editor" in order to find this issue with Math specific queries.
Mandriva is not current available
I am not sure Mandriva is the point here. The issue is about how to write a word in German. And the German reference page www.duden.de is inconsistant of this. It is about the word cosine, in German Cosinus or Kosinus. In math duden points out that "Cosinus" is still used while you can not find the word in this writings. So it seems that this word is dieing in german, and you would write it today more like you speak, with a "K" at the start. However I agree it is obsolete since we handle this in the i10n list and poodle. No Issue needed.
