Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58445
confusing terms in Edit - Database
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:43:14 UTC
In a database window go to 'Edit' - 'Database'. There are three dialogs. The terms in that dialogs are confusing. There are identical sections, which are named different, and there are section, which are named identical, but they are different in content. I will mark the places with a capital. You will find: Properties Database properties (=dialog title) Advanced Properties (=tab) (A)(B) Additional Settings (=tab) Connection Type Advanced Properties (=step 1)(B) Connection settings (=step 2)(A) General User Authentication Additional Settings (=step 3) Advanced Settings (C) Advanced Properties (=dialog title)(B)(C) Generated Values (=tab) Special Settings (=tab) (A) Identical content, different terms (B) 'Advanced Properties', three times different content (C) dialog title <> menu term My suggestion: Properties Database properties (=dialog title) Connection settings (=tab); because it is the same as below Additional Settings (=tab) Connection Type Database Type (= step 1); because this is like the first step in the wizard and so called there Connection settings (=step 2) General User Authentication Additional Settings (=step 3) Advanced Properties; to distinguish from 'Additional Settings' and same term as 'Properties' on the same level and same as dialog title Advanced Properties (=dialog title) Generated Values (=tab) Special Settings (=tab)
Hi, I also think that we rethink the menu/dialog structure. I reassign this enhancement to the User Experience team for evaluating. Bye Marc
