I would like to have the option of numbering the endnotes automatically using
regular numbers and letters instead of roman numbers, and numbering the
footnotes using roman numbers and letters instead of regular numbers.

I see... Perhaps this should more appropriately be a suggestion to have the
footnote/endnote settings availabe when users are inserting the footnote/endnote
rather requiring the user to go to a completely different menu to change the
settings. Or to have the settings menu item place close to the insertion menu item.
