Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58970
Display file perms in open/save dialog boxes
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:32:29 UTC
Enhancement request. This is a suggestion that comes from me and my user base for the Linux and Unix versions of OpenOffice: The file open and save dialog boxes do not show the file permissions, owner, or group names. There is also no option to display this information about files. Linux/Unix WordPefect, as a comparison, allows the user to not only view such file attributes but also change them (chmod), and also customize the display of the dialog. As it is now, the user must use some other file manager, since OO can't do it even though OO *can* create a directory, rename/move a file, delete a file, and delete a directory. OO can not, however, display or change permissions, display owner/group, or copy a file or directory. With a minimal change to the open/save dialog, all the features of a file manager would be available to the user without having to launch some other program.
