Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 59029
Invalid page format settings on imported word-document
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I'm using Openoffice2 from de Debian/GNU/Linux unstable repository. The document named "47pages_1.doc" under the given URL (http://sebastia.homelinux.net/~jo/varis/doc_opens_incorrectly/) OpenOffice2 opens it as 47 empty pages, but in reality it should be ONE page with a header, some text (some of them coloured). A friend of mine has tried to open it with MS-Word (can't remember the version sorry) and he tells me it asks him if he allows a query to be run when opening the document. Finally he has been able to save it as "W98 Doc RTF" and OpenOffice still opens it as a 47 empty pages!!! (47pages_2.doc) The last "save as" he has done is to save as a pure RTF document and when I open it with OpenOffice it shows 48 empty pages (48pages_3.doc). I sent an email to the mailinglist openoffice-users and two people detected the same behaviour. They also hinted me that going to VIEW->Web Layout shows it correctlly. http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=108933 Note: with the program "ted" http://www.nllgg.nl/Ted/ the RTF transformed files open more or less correctly. Regards Sebastià .
Adding the file. Note: Opening the DOC file in openoffice in print layout and saving to ODT file, the created ODT file has the same behaviour as the DOC file (in print layout shows 47 empty pages and in web layout is displayed correctly). Sebastià .
Created attachment 32187 [details] Word document that is displayed in openoffice2 as 47 empty pages when it's only one page with text.
confirming. The document is imported with invalid page-format. Correcting the page format (esp. margin from top) solves the problem.
MRU->FLR: the page settings have been imported incorrectly; the page has a height of 103 cm and a top margin of 99,99 cm. When correecting rthis manually, the document looks good.
