I can't select all by use Ctrl + A in OpenOffice Writer with a few documents 
is created by MS Word. Please see file attachments and shows me how to fix it.

Works good in OO 2.0.1, no problem selecting the whole stuff in the doc.

Confirmed with OOo 2.0.1, Writer, PC with XP SP2.

- Downloaded the attached 'Hello.doc' file.
- Opened in Writer.
- Pressed 'Ctrl'+'A', but did not Select All as expected. Cursor returned to
start of document.
- Tried 'Select All' from menu, did not work either.
- After saving as 'Hello.odt', still could not select all.
- However, after selecting display 'Nonprinting Characters', Select All
functions correctly. But after disabling the display of 'Nonprinting
Characters', the Selection is cleared (normally stays selected).

Issue reopened.

Having looked further at 'Hello.doc', it seems to have been created with a
Vietnamese version of Word, with certain portions of the document flagged as
en-US (this can be seen in Word2003 using show special characters). However,
having changed the document language to en-UK using Word2003, Writer still
cannot Select All.

MRU->SBA: with de-activated "non-printing characters the effect can be seen.

At the end of the document there is a paragraph containing only characters
(graphics anchored as chars) with the hidden characater attribut. When these
"chars" are hidden, <Ctrl><A> fails, when they are shown (as "non-printing
characters"), <Ctrl><A> works fine.
The hidden character attribute has been introduced with OOo2.0 that's the reason
why the problem could not occur in older versions.

A similiar problem occurs in OOo1.0 if there is a hidden paragraph at the end of
the document. If this is displayed, <Ctrl><A> works fine, if not it fails.

This is not a real regression, we only can't select content that wasn't imported
in Ooo1.x anyway. Given the large amount of other tasks planned for 2.0.3 I
think that this one is less important -> 3.0

It's a wellknown conceptual problem. Maybe we will fix it for OOo3.0 but only if
we have some more good reasons to tackle this risky area. But at the moment
there are no plans to do so => Retarget.

If you add a Indexes & Tables ,the Ctrl+A can only select the Indexes but not 
the whole documents.
I think I have repaired the bug

I test attaced files with Writer 3.1.0 (OOO310m11 build 9399).
This version can't select all by Ctrl-A in hello.doc and can select all by
Ctrl+A in photo.odt.

Same problem here in 3.1.1.2. My test case attached above.
