Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 61357
RTF: Writer does not recognize command "\posyb"
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:15:52 UTC
I have to print rtf documents by Open Office 2.0 which contain paragraphs that are placed at the end of page whith the RTF command \posyb. When I open the RTF document with Word Office, the disposition of the text is good but not with Open Office writer. I think that Open Office does not interpret this command \posyb. I have several examples of files to give. Does somenone have an idea?
Created attachment 33700 [details] RTF with the command \posyb (test it by open the file with Open Office and with Word Office to see the difference)
Created attachment 33701 [details] RTF in which I suppress the command \posyb (compare this file with the file rtf_with_posyb.RTF)
Confirmed with OOo 2.0 Writer, WinXP SP2. In MS Word, the marked paragraph appears at the bottom of the second page (I assume as the author wanted). In Writer the command seems to be ignored. More info on the RTF 'posyb' was found with a quick Google: http://www.biblioscape.com/rtf15_spec.htm#Heading39 This is not a Priority 1, and although labour intensive can be fixed manually (downgraded to P3). I imagine this is actually an enhancement request. Regards, Andrew
Ace_dent, I understand that for you it's not a priority 1 , but for me it is because I have included Open Office in a VB 6.0 project intended for a lawyer office and Open Office is used to open a lot of documents in order to print them. So the secretaries cannot spend one hour to reformat each document. Maybe someone knows a RTF command to set a paragraph at the end of page in order to replace \posyb so that Open Office understantd it. Thanks for your answers.
MRU->FLR: it looks, that the RTF command "posyb" is not interpreted by Writer's import filter. It seems to generate an "old style frame" which was mainly used by Word6 and older (in newer Word builds it is not available directly).
Due to missing resources retargetted to "OOo Later"
For me it looks quite nice in OOo2.0.3. Michael, what's your opinion?
No, it's not. The frame is positioned wrongly; it should be at the bottom of the page text area; like it is in OO 1.1.5 or MS Word. (see frame on page 2). The posyb means that the frame is placed at the bottom.
