Description betbest1 2006-02-01 06:49:28 UTC
OpenOffice.org for Windows should install shortcuts analogous to the New Office
Document (create a new, blank document or a new document from a template) and
Open Office Document (open an existing document) shortuts installed by Microsoft
Office at the root of the Start Menu. This functionality is already included in
the Quickstarter (double-click Systray icon to see Templates and Documents
dialog box), but these shortcuts (perhaps New OpenDocument File and Open
OpenDocument File) should be installed by default to ease the transition for
users who previously used MS Office.

Good idea.

Not only for the MSO-user.

If the quickstarter isn't activ,
you must create a new document before you can open an existing document or
you make a double-click on the Document in the explorer.

Workaround: Make a shortcut of soffice.exe and add in the properties slot:5500.
It looks then like: "C:\Programme\OpenOffice.org 2.0\program\soffice.exe"
slot:5500. This opens the dialogue templates and documents.
If you want only the the open document dialogue use slot:5501.

I suggest using the icon soffice.exe:16 or soffice.exe:27 for New OpenDocument
File and icon soffice.exe:19 for Open OpenDocument File. (Of course, if new
icons were to be developed, that would be okay too.) Thanks, jolatt, that
works, except that my programs are in C:\Program Files, not C:\Programme. The
slot:5500 and slot:5501 arguments do exactly what I wanted. Now, this just
needs to be added to the installer for Windows.
