Description gkai 2002-06-28 07:45:24 UTC
When I try to print serial addresses on envelopes with the Hewlett-Packard
OfficeJet 710, the printer pulls through the envelope unaffected and then
demands paper in DIN A size, although the correct paper size is given in Side
Format and Printer Settings. At first I thought this was a problem with
Windows XP and the printer driver, but printing envelopes works with MS Word.
I did not check whether the problem is there only when printing serial, or
with single envelopes too. And of course I don't know whether this problem
only exists with this special printer, or generally.

This may be a possible duplicate to Issue 5369.

I tested envelope printing on OOo 1.0.1 running on win98 using an HP
3200 LaserJet printer (local). I found that the paper size must be
selected both in my printer settings and in the OOo settings in the
Size section of the Format Page (tab) of the Envelope parameters box
(found under the Insert Menu). When I selected my envelope size
there, the paper size issues went away.

Are you saying that both these settings on your system are set for
your envelope size? At one point during my tests, I had my OOo size
set for A-size, and when I changed it to Envelope #10, all was well.

Will you please check you settings in both places, and comment on your
results, so that we can determine how to pursue this issue? thanx!

And all was fine. It works if the paper size is correct in the
printer settings as well as in envelope format settings. Admittedly,
I could have that idea myself. Thanx for the help and sorry for the
bother.

Just read what I had written at first. Looks like I *did* hit that
idea and it did not work. Anyway, it works now, and that is fine
with me. I cannot recall what I did differently then.

Thanx for looking back at your settings again. I read your notes to
say that you had them set properly in both places too. During my
tests, I wondered if I had to change a setting that I had already set
at one point too, but I cannot be sure...I may have overlooked it. I
guess for now, we should close this issue as "works for me"? We are
aware that there are two places to set paper size now; if we have any
further oddities with this, we can reopen the issue and add more
notes. I found this feature a little hard to grasp, and I want a
tad more practice with it, before I will feel comfortable declaring
anything as a bug, cuz it could be my learning curb. :)

Right you are. I suggest we declare victory. Thanks again for your
help!
