Description pitlik 2006-02-20 17:41:46 UTC
I'm writing a paragraph of text, Writer will wrap the lines at the edge of page,
it's ok, but: put your cursor to the end of wrapped line and hold the space key
for a long time. There are many spaces, but you can't see them, even if you turn
on showing of unprintable characters (ends of paragraphs, line breaks, spaces,
non-breakable spaces, etc.). But they are there, just try to put cursor one word
back and press enter.

I think it should:
a) show the spaces somehow
b) wrap the spaces to the next line

confirmed with OOo 2.0.2 RC1 on WinXP Pro SP2

AFAIK, this works as designed, that those "trailing spaces" are not used to
generate a line break. It is a "industry standard" behaviour of Word processors.

MRU->SBA: is this true?

I think, it's duplicate to issue 20878.

SBA: Yes, Regina. Another dupe. Thanks for digging it out.
<Fun>
Well, at times it works as designed: Those who doze on their space key after
working too long may experience unexpected things when they turn around and hit
a "real key, worth to show". Hey, this is a software with an educational mission
for former typewriter users (...nothing happens on a mechanical typewriter if
you doze on the space key ... :-)
</Fun>
