Description aballard 2006-03-22 03:17:28 UTC
Hi, I just got OpenOffice last week and everything was fine, until I opened an
html (197kb not made in OpenOffice) with 32 images (in tables). The first 20
of these show fine, then it cuts off in mid-word, and bunches the next 6
images, loses the text until way after the 6th, and is fine again with the
rest of the images and text. I use IE, but I tried Netscape 4.75 on win98 and
it works fine, except for some font attributes; all the images are in place.
If I am supposed to attach this file, I don't see any option for that! I don't
suppose you want me to paste 197kb here?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Agnes Ballard

Please give a detaied description of what is missing where.
What does mesn "No images". You didn't attach the image to the issue so I only
see placeholders.

Hello es,

Well, frankly it doesn't matter whether you have images or just placeholders,
it does the same thing, when you open the file in Open Office! I did try that
out, before I asked for help. I also mentioned IE and Netscape, more or less,
to show that there was nothing wrong with the source code.

Did you open the file in Open Office, and did you see about 6 of the
placeholders bunched together, somewhere around the middle of the file? If you
compare the source in Open Office with the original source, you will be able
to see it quite plainly. The images are seperated by quite a bit of text, but
that text is missing in Open Office. It is allright again later on, just as it
is at the start.

I can, of course, send the images to you, but it would be quite a number of
images, and I would have to send it in a zipped file. If you want me to do
this, will you let me know?

I hope this has helped to make the issue a bit clearer.
Thanks for your help. It is appreciated!
Agnes Ballard

P.S. Sorry, I answered the email without thinking! I hope I am doing it right
now!

ES->AMA: any idea why a part of the text disappears in Web/Print layout but
still exists in HTML code.

To reproduce:
- open attached document
- search for "delicatessen"
-> see that it shows "delicatessen de"<paragraph>
When you look at the HTML code, you see that lines 2310 to 3106 are missing in
the WYSIWYG layout.

Hi, I don't think the question is directed to me, but I have found out, that
OpenOffice does not like all that text going on and on without headings or
ankers! It keeps the images, because they do have ankers. I found that it does
the same thing with an all text html, that is composed on the same lines, but
instead of a diary, it is composed entirely of letters. So I changed all the
dates, in the file send to you, to small headings and then it doesn't lose any
text. However, I don't know why it does it!

Hi AMA,
I don't suppose, that you are getting anywhere?

I should have clarified my last message as saying: it does not like all that
text with <br> instead of <p>! If you could extend it's tolerence for <br>,
then I think it would work.

In the mean time, could you tell me why OpenOffice does not load html files,
with the css instructions, which are in the file, applied? You have to go and
change everything with -->search -->styles. You can't even use that styles
box, because it changes the font etc.

If there is some predefined way to do this right, could you, please, let me
know?

Thanks,
Regards,
Agnes Ballard
