Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 63484
Default font for Thai in Calc should be Tahoma not Angsana
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:01:25 UTC
Originally the default font and size for Thai in Calc was Tahoma 10pt. This got changed in 2.0.1 to Angsana 16pt. However, this caused problems with cell height. 2.0.2 fixed this (issue 59408) by changing the default font size for Thai in Calc from 16pt back to 10pt. However, it left the font as Angsana, instead of changing it back to Tahoma. The result is a bad combination: Angsana is designed to work well at 16pt; it looks far too small at 10pt. The only Windows font that is readable for Thai at 10pt is Tahoma (this is specially designed with vertically compressed diacritics so that it looks OK in all scripts at 10pt). There's a patch in issue 59408 that does this amongst other things.
