Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 64011
BSOD on presentation with ATI drivers
Last modified: 2006-04-05 09:43:21 UTC
OpenOffice Impress causes a BSOD in a reproducible fashion on my system. It's crashing in the ATI2DVAG.DLL when playing the attached presentation - not always on the first slide, sometimes one has to click on the first choice. It seems to be the once fading effect causing it - it crawls very slowly on my machine (MS PowerPoint Viewer 2003 does it much faster and doesn't crash). I guess OO is only indirectly responsible for the crash, but maybe there is a general problem (e.g. not freeing GDI objects causing a stack overflow in the buggy driver)? I have a VisionTek RADEIN 9200SE AGP (0x5964), Bios BK-ATI VER008.015.073.000. Driver version is 8.231.0.0 (used the Catalyst installer). Very interesting: it even crashed with an older driver version, so the problem could be more generic. Hopefully nothing which can be used for malicious kernel mode execution. Please feel free to contact me - I can send more dumps, run more tests, etc.
