Description hwoarang 2006-04-12 20:03:48 UTC
Hi there.
I'm using m162 on Win98SE.
Everytime that I get a crash ( and I'm getting a lot of crash here ) the
CrashReporter do not send any stacktrace (crash report).

I know that a previous bug was fixed to avoid the CrashReporter Tool crash (too)
when the there's no stacktrace to send (that happens with unusual times).

But, in my case, every crash I only got the RecoveryTool. The CrashReporter Tool
do not comes up. The same crash, in WinXP generates the stacktrace to send.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't know why OOo do not get stacktraces in
win98 to send with reporter tool.

Thank you.

Hwoarang

My enviroment:
OOo m162
Win98SE pt_br

Please have a look.

Using OOo2.0.3rc5 I got the same behavior... and in the Document Recovery Tool
Dialog shows a message that a report from the fail was generated and ask the
user to hit "Next" to send it... but after clicking "Next" there's no crash
reporter tool, just my recovered document.

As I'm getting a lot of crashes here with our machines running Win98SE, I think
that feature should be extended to this SO too.

Thank you.

I am using 2.0.3rc5 on Windows98SE.
No crash so far. It looks robust on my machine.

hwoarang: Exactly what were you doing when you crash? Can you provide us your
document which crashes your 2.0.3rc5? Please attach it to this issue.

Hi khirano. Thank you.
In fact this issue is not related with any crash in special... in every crash
that happnes I can't send the stack trace.

To get a crash try this:
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62532
or
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62223

I can reproduce both here with Win98SE.

In this right moment, I got a major problem with OOo2.0.3rc5 and Win98SE here. I
installed it in two machines running win98se and after some seconds using OOo I
got a crash. As I can't send no stack trace I can't help much...

I'm dowloading OOo2.0.3rc3 again to test in my home (WinXP SP2) to see what happens.

Thank you.

JA->HRO: please take care about this issue. I can confirm that the crashreporter
crashes on Win98SE (tested on the system of UL). Unfortunately kill.exe does not
work on Win98SE either thus you need a crashing bugdoc like that in issue 62223.
As discussed with MH I set this issue to 2.0.3

obviously there is no solution available in 2.0.3 timeframe. since there is
complete loss of crash reporter functionality I raise Prio to 2.

OF: Fix verified in cws hro08. Is ok on Win98 now; still ok on WinXP.

OF: The fix has missed the master. crashrep.exe still crashing after patching.

hmmm...
maybe this explain why crash reporter tool now get the info to send, but freeze
when I ask to send it...

Comment 15 Olaf Felka 2006-09-11 10:58:52 UTC
The problem with patches on win98 depends on a different problem.

Hi.
I want to ask to reopen this issue.

When I had a crash, now OOo freeze and I need to hit ctrl+alt+del to finish the
process.

After reopening the document, I got the recovery tool and the crash reporter
tool. Ok.

When I try to send the report, OOo freeze again...

I'm using auth proxy in my LAN, but the url "report.services.openoffice.org" is
allowed in my proxy without authentication. And I check in my log this request
is not blocked. If I try to use direct connection (as the url is allowed by my
firewall too), I got the freeze again.

So, I think something is wrong in OOo side.

Thank you for this improvement.

I think that you describe a different problem. Please file a new issue for the
new problem.
