Description thingwath 2006-04-25 02:00:10 UTC
I have worksheet from MS Excel (I don't know which version) containing graph of
magnetical hysteresis, it should be an XY graph with two lines.

When I try to open it with Calc, it does freeze for about two minutes and then
renders unusable result (one line, something like y = -x). MS Excel viewer
displays correct graph.

It happens with recent OOo 2.0.2 downloaded from www.openoffice.cz for Windows
(on Windows 2003 server) and with same version included in Fedore Core 5.

this is probably a duplicate to issue 2385 ("Conversion/import of Excel Workbook
with "2 X-axes" in same chart does not work."). The problem is that there are 2
x-axis set in the document which Calc doesn't import, collapsing the datarange
to only one column. You can modify the datarange to include all 3 columns. Then
the chart is drawn "correctly"; note that the first column is always used as the
x-axis data and the following columns are used for different y-axis data. See
also issue 3997.

It looks like a duplicate of 2385. Does it include that freeze during import?
Two minutes for one simple chart are too much, at least for me.

it doesn't include the freeze; (also I don't get a freeze when opening the file
on WinXP Pro SP2)

I just discovered that the chart also has the wrong format (also mentioned in
issue 2385): it is the chart type Lines rather than xy chart. So if you want the
chart to work correctly, you have to change the chart type to xy chart and
modify the data range (first can be done via context menu->Chart Type... after
entering the chart via double click and second can be done via context menu-
>Modify Data Range... when having the chart selected without it being entered
(green handles vs grey border)). I set this issue as duplicate now.
