Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6490
Add short cut [END+Arrow Keys], for easier range selection
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:13:10 UTC
In Lotus, Quattro Pro and Excel "block" navigation is achieved by pressing the End key and then the key in the direction you want to move (Up, Downl, Left, Right). This takes the cursor to the first/last nonempty cell (depending on whether you are in an empty cell or not) in that direction (ok, just like Ctrl+direction in Calc currently). I believe this is an important feature for those who have been using that navigation style for 20 years ... and it shouldn't be that hard to implement an option to activate this.
Hi Falko, 1 4 u Frank
Yes, yes, yes - this is definitely important issue. Especially for larger spreadsheets, it makes navigation much, much easier (ok, a bit easier - you do not to keep ctrl pressed :-). And Excel supports both styles (i.e. CTRL+arrows and End+arrows).
Add a key shortcut that uses the "End" key in combination with the arrow key to travel to the next empty cell in arrow key direction.

Using OOo 2.0.4, WinXP PC- Problem still persists. Anyone who works with spreadsheets of a moderate size, will know how essential this function is. With even a 100 rows, it becomes a real time saver in selecting ranges of data (cf. Excel). Issue is 4 years old, hence uping priority and setting target to 2.X... hope this doesn't offend, but we need to keep this Issue on the radar. @bh (or other Dev's), any progress updates? Cheers, Andrew
removed me from cc
move target from 2.x to 3.0
Changed the owner and status.
@bh: nothing will happen when set owner to requirement and leaving target at 3.0.
@mh: Requirements are handled within the quarterly reviews? So there the decision is done, which target is possible to plan.
