Description jawfish 2006-05-04 18:54:10 UTC
NOTE: This sounds like #40443 or maybe #47285 but I can reproduce it in at least
three versions of OO2, where it should have been fixed. ( OOo2 beta - OOo2.0 -
OOo2.01 )

Open a large odt document*
Edit->Compare insert a different version of the doc
Kill/ignore dialog box listing changes
try to saveas-
OO crashes

Does NOT crash when doing this with text-only:
save the large docs to .txt
repeat above, and save to .odt file

Does NOT crash when using a raw text file converted to odt.

*Large odt documnent= 350 pages, TOC, Index, headings, many styles, jpeg
illustrations ( maybe a png?) in short, a typical tech writer doc.

Let me know what info you need- I can't give you the doc as its proprietary, but
I'll test with your suggestions until we get to the issue.

Reassigned to ES.
Comment 2 eric.savary 2006-05-08 13:28:18 UTC
Send me the document by e-mail please.
Comment 3 eric.savary 2006-05-08 13:29:19 UTC
Please also check if this still happens in OOo 2.0.2.
OOo 2.0 beta is too old!
Comment 4 jawfish 2006-05-08 18:04:55 UTC
does happen in OOo 2.01
having trouble with 2.02 on install
trying with build of tip of cvs tree.
Comment 5 jawfish 2006-05-09 01:10:55 UTC
Same crash happens on win2k, 384megs Ram, OO.o 2.02.
However, on that win2k system it is possible to save the changed-list file by
closing OOo, and answering the "do you want to save me" dialog 'yes'
Further the order in which the docs were compared seems to matter: if the older
doc is opened, then the newer doc is compared, it is possible to saveas the result.
Still trying to get a clean 2.02 on linux....
Comment 6 eric.savary 2006-05-09 07:06:20 UTC
Document still needed to reproduce the crash.

FYI: as an employee of SUN Microsystems (eric . savary at sun . com) I have to
respect the confidentiality of customers'/users' documents :)

I understand your confidentiality Eric, thanks. It's more a matter of my rear
end I am concerned about ;>)

so, I'll make a dummy doc that makes me feel safe. Perhaps I can even do
something clever to narrow down the scope.... I do understand the
needle-in-haystack debugging problem you have with no crash dump available.

Eric I have found the proximate problem- OLE docs inherited from the original
WORD document several versions back. I stripped graphics, text, indices, all the
content out except for these OLE graphics and it crashes as described. Attached
are ver i and ver j.

Hope this makes things easier. The crash dump said ~'no useful info or stack
corrupted'

ES->AMA: Stack ID: 522854
Crashes also in OOo 2.0 and also on Windows
Comment 15 andreas.martens 2006-05-10 16:12:35 UTC
I got an additional crash when I try to "accept all" of the changes.
And I got in my debug version assertions which shows me problems in the
redlining code.
