Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 65334
Bengali Ra+YaPhala rendering problem
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:31:39 UTC
Ra+Ya-phalaa does not render properly in Linux. It renders fine in WinXP. Sequence for Ra+Ya-phalaa is: RA (U+09B0) + Zero Width Non Joiner (U+200C) + Halant (U+09CD) + Ya (U+09AF) Ref: http://www.unicode.org/faq/indic.html#13A Please check the attachments for more details.
Created attachment 36433 [details] Sample file containing Ra+Ya-phalaa
Created attachment 36434 [details] Screenshot of sample.odt in WinXP showing correct rendering.
Created attachment 36435 [details] Screenshot of sample.odt in Linux [ie. Ubuntu Dapper Beta2] showing incorrect rendering.
http://www.unicode.org/faq/indic.html#13A this link is backdated. I don't know what UTC didn't solve the page. Still you can see wrong information on KhandaTa. I don't know about other Indic languages. :( Ra Yaphola should be written as Ra ZWJ Halanth Ya according to http://www.unicode.org/review/pr-37.pdf
pl->hdu: please have a look
Please retry with a milestone that has integrated the CWS "icuupgrade" and report the results here. This CWS will allow OOo's gsl layer to use a much more recent version of the ICU layout engine. The milestones wÃth icuupgrade should be available in the next few weeks.
Can I get a direct URL to download the build and test?
Let's check again when the CWS icuupgrade has been integrated: http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Path=SRC680%2Ficuupgrade
@ER: is a preview download of the CWS icuupgrade available?
@hdu: no, only some internal SO interim build may be available, please contact Karl for the status, I'll be on vacation within the next 4 hours ;)
Today I checked with OpenOffice.org 2.1 RC1 (build OOE680_m3) on CentOS 4.4. This bug still remains.
Sorry it is not RC1, build OOE680_m3.
@itsjamil: I just saw that the latest development release SRC680_m197 has finally been integrated the child workspace "icuupgrade" that we have been waiting for. Please retest issues that might be affected with the new release.
I will be waiting for Pavel's build. His latest available build is SRC680_m196. :)
Just checked Pavel's build [ie. OOo_SRC680_m197 RPM version] on CentOS 4.4; Bug remains.
Created attachment 42168 [details] Result with OOo680_m199 and recent MuktiNarrow.ttf ("Version 0.94 November 1, 2003")
I don't have Ubuntu here, but on a "normal" debian with the ttf-bangla-fonts package version 0.4 installed the result from a recent OOo (SRC680_m199) looks fine to me. Please check the screenshot in the comment above.
Yes, that looks fine but not correct. Please check sample_winxp.png's first two lines yellow marks - which is rendered correctly.
set target 3.x
