Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 66304
"My AutoText" untranslated
Last modified: 2019-10-06 07:41:58 UTC
1. Create a new document in Writer 2.0.3-RC5 Italian. 2. Press CTRL+F3 to show the Autotext Dialog. "My AutoText" is untranslated. Suggested translation: "Personalizzato". [Reported by Dario Burattini during Italian QA tests]
Not a bug. "My AutoText" should not be translated.
reopen. German has a translation "Eigene Bausteine", so other localizations should have one too. reassigning to l10n as well.
confirming. As the other autotext-categories have localized titles as well, "My AutoText" should be translated as well.
Same for german version (2.0.3 RC7) and french version (2.0.3 RC7) -> seems to affect all languages. "My AutoText" should be translated with "Eigene Bausteine" (german) as it was before in version 1.1.x.
self-notice: investigate.
The string "My AutoText" is stored inside ZIP file named mytexts.bau. This file is located at pavel@paveljanik:~/.ooo/ooo_SRC680_m176_src/extras/source/autotext> find . -name mytexts.bau ./lang/hu/mytexts.bau ./mytexts.bau iano: Why do you think it should not be translated? cloph: as there is only one other mytexts.bau file (for hu), where is it translated in German version?
Hi Pavel, Elizabeth Matthis who was in charge of the glossaries at sun informed me a long time ago that "My AutoText" should not be translated. As i recall this string is similar to "Gallery" which should also not be translated. I'm pretty sure she got this information from the base team. Unfortunately Elizabeth is on maternity leave at the moment & will not be back for months so i cannot confirm. What do you think? Cheers, Ian
Hmm, I do not like to see string in latin charset in Russian or Chinese version. I also do not understand this letter from Chinese alphabet: | | /--- | | | \-*|* | ***/ **** so: it is nonsense to not translate this. Right now, this string is not translatable using GSI files, because it is in the .bau file. We should ask autotext developers for their opinion or we should provide localized mytexts.bau files. Keeping English strings for *all* languages is nonsense. Maybe you misunderstood liz. It is not translatable (in the database, ...) but it certainly *should* be translated.
Hi Pavel, As i recall Liz told me that AutoText SHOULD not be translated, not COULD not be translated. I would tend to agree with you when it comes to having english strings in localised products but some times this is the case. Such as trademarks or names. Perhaps this is one for us to raise with the base team... Rafaella, What do you think? Cheers, Ian
iano: we are talkign about the string "My Autotext", not about the string "autotext", not about autotexts. Aren't we? Anyway, I think *all* should be translatable. "Autotext" is nonsense in our country, because "auto" means "car" (vehicle) in Czech. So it is cartext...
Hi, there is no reason why this term should stay in English. However, for consistency and usablity reasons, the terms to use to translate My Autotext should reflect the one found in the Edit menu (Writer, Edit, Autotext....). Cheers, Rafaella
I was just wondering, why cloph mentioned, that the string in german is translated and in my version 2.0.3 not. The reason is: - If you enable the option "Transfer personal data" while creating the user profile, this string is translated to "Eigene Bausteine" (german version), if you disable it, the string is not translated ("My Autotext"). So I think, this is not (only) a translation issue.
It's not translated in 2.0.3, but in earlier versions. I did not prune my user-dir before installing 2.0.3
Hi Stefan, as just discussed on the phone, can you please look at this bug which does not seem to be a translation bug? Thx!
SBA->OS: I guess you can solve the problem of "transaterability" in this case :-)

Confirmed with Vietnamese DEV300_m29 on Windows XP. This bug is 2-year-old :D We need to fix this.
FYI, 1. Create a new document in Writer 2.0.3-RC5 Italian. 2. Press CTRL+F3 to show the Autotext Dialog. 3. Click "Type"( "Loại" in Vietnamese), the 5th button from top-right. We will see some more unstranslated strings: a. Business Card, Work (3 1/2

Standard I found that they are in: C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org\Basis 3.0\share\autotext\vi\template.bau unzip it and grep in BlockList.xml ( actually .bau is a zip file, rename to .zip and unzip it) Screenshot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vuhung/2780369440/
vuhung, this issue speaks of the fact that the string "My AutoText" appears in English even in fully localized versions of OOo (even when all the bau files are localized). In Vietnamese version, you obviously must first localize all bau files, but that is not the issue here. LP, m.
This bug seems to have been fixed in LibreOffice, but not in OOo.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
(In reply to lohmaier from comment #2) > German has a translation "Eigene Bausteine", so other localizations should > have one too. Weird, because no file exists to localize this string for DE lang. mytexts.bau is only present in https://github.com/apache/openoffice/blob/trunk/main/extras/source/autotext Anybody use a german build can confirm this?
Still not translated in 4.1.7
