Description a_andrius 2006-06-28 02:37:10 UTC
OS: Debian/Linux 'etch'
OOo versions: 2.0.1-5 (Debian), 2.0.299-2.0.3-rc6-1 (Debian), 2.0.3-169

Pdf files, created on Linux with "Export to PDF" function, are rendered on screen
slower than:
1. Files printed to PDF converter.
2. Files exported to PDF on Windows.

P.S. Best viewed with Adobe Reader 7.0 on Linux/PIII450/256, Adobe Reader 6.0.4
on Windows 98/PII366/128. On xpdf it's not so evident. Don't know if will be
noticeable on faster PCs.

Attachments:
60626_test.odt - Writer file
debian_203-169_export.pdf - exported pdf (OOo 2.0.3-169, Debian)
debian_203-169_print.pdf - printed pdf (OOo 2.0.3-169, Debian)
w98_203-169_export.pdf - - exported pdf (OOo 2.0.3-169, Windows 98)
debian_201-5_extendPDF.pdf - created by extendPDF macro (OOo 2.0.1-5, Debian)

You may see the difference in page loading time (when scrolling or jumping to
the next page in the file).
By the way, OOo user guide draft 17, migration guide are displayed the same -
any pages with much text appear "by paragraphs"; meanwhile pages and tables of
contents of many other documents (6-8MB in size) appear almost at once, so it's
not a Debian or my PC issue.
