Description norbert2 2006-07-04 21:44:07 UTC
When pasting some GDI Metafile graphics (from Tinycad,
http://tinycad.sourceforge.net/) into OOo I found that they are incorrect
displayed, printed and exported to PDF!

Just open the attached OpenDocument in OOo and the doc-file in MS Word. (Or
compare the attached PDFs, if you don't have MS Word.)

OOo shows 2 bugs here:

1. The circle is positioned incorrect.
2. The blue lines are not rounded.

(Please also have a look at issue 50252, that is also about incorrect displayed
GDI Metafiles.)

"2. The blue lines are not rounded."
-> "2. The ends of the blue lines are not rounded."
Comment 7 Rainer Bielefeld 2006-07-05 06:36:58 UTC
I see the effect in 'GDI_Metafile.odt', but I believe that it's (at least also)
a problem with some wrong in the GDI metafile.

For a Test I opened 'GDI_Metafile.doc', marked the image by mouseclick, pressed
<cntrl>+<c> and then tried to paste the clipboard contents to some other documents:
- NEW WORD2000 document as "device-independent image": black circular area no
  longer centred correctly
- OOo 1.1.4 document as GDI metafile: black circular area no
  longer centred correctly
- OOo 2.0.2 WRITER document as GDI metafile: black circular area no
  longer centred correctly
- OOo 2.0.2 DRAW document as GDI metafile: black circular area no
  longer centred correctly
- GIMP (simply "paste": black circular area no
  longer centred correctly

Always the same result witn "paste special as bitmap"

Please compare different views in original 'GDI_Metafile.doc' and
'Dok2.doc', where I pasted image as "device-independent image"!

@norbert2:
Please specify aour OS and Platrorm!
Can you please attach clipboard contents with image from 'Tinycad'(using
clibrd.exe)?

OS is WindowsXP. But I don't think that we can call this a windows-only bug just
because Tinycad is only available for Windows. If I open the OpenDocuement files
in Linux StarOffice, they show the same bug.

I have attached such Clipboard data from TinyCAD. But note that this one may not
be binary identical with the picture I have pasted into the attached
OpenDocument and doc-file, because I had to draw and copy a similar picture again.

You have to enlarge the picture after pasting to see the problem better. When
printing to papaper the problem can easily be seen also if small original size
is kept. This is who I have noticed the bug.

Clipboard content for Windows clipbrd.exe
Comment 11 Rainer Bielefeld 2006-07-06 04:44:10 UTC
I tried to paste attached clipboard contents 'GDI_Metafile.CLP' (opened with
clpbrd.exe) to various applications (pls. see screenshots), and it seems that
they all have problems to handle that clipboard contents, so I believe that
Tinycad produces crippled clipboard contents, but I would like to eliminate the
possibility that there is a WIN clipboard feature what is not supported
correctly by OOo, I believe we should accept this as a defect for first.

Because we do not have any confirmation from other OS, --> WIN XP

Comment 15 christian.guenther 2006-11-08 14:28:40 UTC
In my mind this is one enhancement and one bug.
the enhancement is the 'not rounded line ends'
I write a new enhancement about this.

The bug is the wrong position of the black circle.
I send this bug to the developer for this bug.
Comment 16 christian.guenther 2006-11-08 14:55:53 UTC
Please have a look about the wrong position of the circle.
