Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 67338
Images do not stay in place on Impress slides
Last modified: 2006-08-08 14:45:51 UTC
I have several slideshows that use small images such as images of toolbar buttons and "exclamation" and "note" markers. In every one of the slideshows these images do not stay where they were placed in the saved ODP file. These images are supposed to be placed within (or rather on top of) a text box, which seems like a simple task... Each time I put them back where they belong and upload the file(s) for others to retrieve the images move to other locations on the slide making them look sloppy and Impress look buggy! You can download one of the ODPs here: http://www.nostabo.net/spreadsheets/v2/Calc_lesson5_v2.odp In the above file look at slides 3, 48, 65, 66, 76, 94. And you can look at a PDF of the same slideshow that does not have this same problem here: http://www.nostabo.net/spreadsheets/v2/Calc_lesson5_v2.pdf I would attach the files, but they are over 6 and 7 megabytes respectively.

When do the problems appear? After changing and saving the original file or after uploading and loading it from the server again? What I want to know is if the problem smight be caused by the upload or do the problems appear on the same computer the document was last changed on, using the original file without an upload/download action. Thanks in advance.
This problem occurs after the file is "fixed" and saved on a local PC. The uploading has nothing to do with it. See for yourself by downloading one of the files (http://www.nostabo.net/spreadsheets/v2/Calc_lesson5_v2.odp) and notice how the images move after you relocate them. As I mentioned in the beginning post this file has these problems on slides 3, 48, 65, 66, 76, 94. The odd thing is they always seem to want to return to the same place after being rearranged. It is like they are "snapping" to an invisible grid. Although these files were originally taken from Excel tutorials I wrote using PowerPoint (and saved as PPS files) they have been saved several times as ODP files. Their PowerPoint ancestry should have no effect?
Sorry, not reproducible here. After putting the icons to the right place and saving the file opening it again or reloading shows them always at the correct position :-/
Did you try to switch off the grid under view /grid/snap to grid? don't know if this helps but it is worth a try...
Switching off the "snap to grid" option for each file worked. Is this the default?
The snap to grid option is set as default for new documents. Sine this cannot reproduced here in any way and the problem seems to be fixed with unchecking the grid option I will close the issue since there is nothing more we can do about it. Thanks for your help.
