Description farzaneh 2006-07-23 18:22:04 UTC
Open the attached sample file imported from MS PowerPoint. The formula object
originally had a white background, which is not displayed in OO.o Impress.

Reassigned.
Comment 3 Rainer Bielefeld 2006-07-24 12:57:03 UTC
I checked with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]"; no real
difference is visible to the view with Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97. I also
doubt that really someone would have wanted to have some white backgorund - I
believe that the Background should have to be transparent. I can not find any
Backgrond property in MS Formula editor.

If I copy / paste formula from MS Formula editor to OOo 2.0 text document, the
background of the formula is transparent.

But of course, OOo 2. should show the document as it looks in PowerPoint, I can
not check PP view because I do not have PP on my PC.

This issue might be related to Issue 51868: on my PC WORD2000 installer starts
when I try to open 'testequ.ppt' with OOo 2.0.2

@farzanehs:
I doubt that that's a special PRESENTATION issue - is there any chance to get a
WORD document with that formula object in it?

I can't assign a background color to a microsoft Equation. Therefore the
background color is transparent.
But nevertheless there is another Feature we should impelment. I can't assign a
area filling or a linestyle to an OLE-object. Therefore OLE-objects with area
fillings and/or lines looks different after PPT-import.
I change the Issue title and write an aditional description and send the issue
to the corresponding developer.
Comment 6 christian.guenther 2006-07-25 10:26:15 UTC
- Start an Impress or Draw
- insert an OLE-object (e.g. a math object)
- click on the area icon and assign an areafilling
- the background of the OLE-objetc doesn't change to the assigned area filling.

You are right. I had created the file with MS ppt, then manipulated it with OO.o
impress. That's why your both screenshots look identical. I am now attaching the
file again and a screenshot of the file with MS powerpoint.

Comment 10 Armin Le Grand 2006-07-31 12:13:53 UTC
AW: OLEs do not support line style, fill style, shadow and other attributes. It
was never intended to do so. On the other hand we are already thinking about
adding this for SW to use DrawingLayer picture and OLE objects (ATH SW uses it's
own implementations).
AW: Since it works as designed, it's not a defect. I set this to enchancement
and change the title accordingly.

AW: Unfortunately there is no safe way currently to detect old file versions,
thus i will take back all my actions executed, set milestone and wait for ODF1.2
final.
Comment 16 Armin Le Grand 2011-10-06 10:19:31 UTC
ALG: Checked that the change to set XFILL_NONE and XLINE_NONE for OLE attributes is in OOo3.3 release. This allows to add a check if < 3.3 release to correct at load time.
Comment 17 Pedro Giffuni 2011-10-12 19:43:22 UTC
Armin Le Grand addressed this on issue 118485

It should have been fixed now as part of SVN revision 1182166.

Thanks!
