Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6795
Add ability to disable formatted cut/copy and paste feature.
Last modified: 2008-11-05 20:24:11 UTC
create a blank document with the text Ret your life with a star product. double click the word "star", the 4 characters star become highlighted click between the "e" and the "t" in "Ret" and "Paste" you EXPECT to get "Restart" you actually get "Re star t" note that if the original line reads "Ret your life with a star" (ie star is at the end of the line) the spaces are not added. this looks similar, but different to IZ 4314
A workaround is to use the paste special command and paste the text as "Unformatted text". My guess is that this behaviour is normal for OOo. I'm going change this to an enhancement request. User comment: pasting copied word adds spaces either side sometimes

Perhaps we should consider adding an option where users can disable OOo's default cut/copy "smart" behaviour so that cut/copy operations do not add extra formatting.. MS Word has the feature where their "smart cut/copy and paste" capability can be disabled.

Reviewing this issue again, it sounds pretty close to issue 5963

Why not add a shortcut for pasting unformatted text, like Ctrl-Shift- V or similar?
Adding even more settings is not the right way to go. However, the issue 17563 will work on getting a shortcut for the unformatted text pasting, which is the better way to do this. So marking this as duplicate. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 17563 ***
