Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 68159
Export to Video
Last modified: 2024-04-05 06:12:16 UTC
Many people these days like to create automated presentations. When they are done creating them, they tend to like to share them with their friends. Sometimes, they will simply send them the ODP/PPT file, other times they will export the presentation to SWF or PDF. A video export feature would make it easier to share the files, because it would play the same each time. Also, there are many free video hosting services now available on the Internet to host the generated files.
Reassigned.
This issue resembles issue 34844: export to DVD.
like bug 83718, it would be great to add sound, chapters, to define timing (maybe with a timeline to match the recorded audio file)

Anything new on this issue? Maybe it could be implemented as a extension.
any news ? I would really like to have my Impress presentations with all the animations and OpenGL effects be exported into videos. maybe using the ffmpeg library ? so i can have a choice in codec or file container. that could be nice. Kindly, Nadav :-)
I too would **love** to have the ability to export from Impress to mpeg. As this thread mentions - http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=61005 - a "Kipi" plugin already exists which can do this. Maybe that code could be re-used in OO.org? At the very least, it should be a useful guide. My "use case" is that of simple "instructional" videos. For example, a progress-report kind of video giving the background of whizzy app "Foo" and the progress being made on it. This kind of thing is *very well suited* to being done in Impress and then exported to mpeg. I'm sure I am not alone in that I have the desire to do a number of these videos, but a video-editing app is overkill for what I want to do. However, Impress (and the ability to export to mpeg) would fit my needs *perfectly*.

(In reply to nadavkav from comment #6) > OpenGL effects be exported into videos. maybe using the ffmpeg library ? FFmpeg is not compatible with AOO licence (AL v2). So you can use this extension: https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/impress-video-converter
