Description marius_hillenbrand 2006-08-14 13:47:05 UTC
When exporting an impress presentation to a powerpoint file, the language
setting of the document is always set to "English (Great Britain)".
This was already reported as issue 45249, but was closed as not reproducible.

Perform the following steps:
Create new impress presentation;
Set language to German (default here, same result with setting "French
(France)"-"Only for this document");
Save As -> Powerpoint
Open in PowerPoint;
Misc/Extra->Language shows "English (Great Britain)"

I can't reproduce the bug.
I change the language in OOo with 'Tools / Options / Language Settings' and
check it in PPT with 'Tools / Language...'
Please tell me how do you change the language and how do you chek it.

Perhaps my default language setting (German (Germany)) has an additional influence ?
OOo version tested is 2.0.2 (is a requirement in my project).

Steps in detail:
Create new empty impress presentation
Enter some senseless text
Tools->Options->Language Settings -> Language
Set "western" to "French (France)". (*)
Save As "test.ppt"
Open in PowerPoint (from Office 2000)
Check Tools->Language and voila there is "English (Great Britain)"

Same result when checking "only this document" at (*) and using "Catalanian".
Reimporting the "Catalanian" ("only this document") test.ppt, I find the default
setting (German (germany)) in Tools->Options...

Hope this helps. Tnx in advance.

Set to new and change the target.
Comment 5 christian.guenther 2006-08-18 11:06:16 UTC
I can reproduce the bug.
The setting of OOo in
'Tools / Options / Language Settings / Languages / Western'
should be exported to PPT
'Tools / Langage...'
Please have a look.

I can reproduce it also for the FR versions under Windows XP.

This issue has the keywork needmoreinfo, could you tell us what is needed ?
this is issue is really annoying for some languages where you can't use the
spell checker for your presentation.
Thanks - Sophie

I think there is no more information needed (except some more detailed
information of the binary file format of powerpoint, but this is always a
problem we have).

I remove the keyword.
