Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6868
Vertical alignment isn't ok
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:55:55 UTC
When I type a complex formula with lots of "over", exponential, sums, and so on, the vertical aligment of the formula respecto to inline text isn't correct. There should be a way to automatically align the text with the = or the base character (for example the e in an exponential). Simple test: type a text and follow it by T_a=e^{-i a over hbar p}. The "T" should be at the same height than the text. You can correct it with object properties, but then if you type something like T_a=1 over {sum from{sum b_i} to{infinity} e^{-i}} the aligment doesn't work for both and you'll have to adjust them manually.
I assume this happens when you're using formaulas in the Writer applications for example.
Accepted. It is an Writer issue though...
Yes, it happens when I use the Writer.
In writer, I setup the vertical ruler as inches. Mostly due to my need to write MLA style papers in screwl. But, once I exit the app and go back in later, the ruler goes back to the default cm. I even did a fresh install and made the setting without doing any work and it still wouldn't stick. I could live with the bug, but it does get quite annoying.
TL->NumenMaster: Errr... What has the ruler to do with Math formulas embedded in Writer??? This has nothing to do with this issue. Please submit a new task for that. Thanks!
Type set to enhancement. Since it will be a new feature.
That is: it would be a feature.
