I would like to see a grammar checker similar to the one in Microsoft Office in 
Open Office?  Is this a possibility anytime soon?

My OOo already has a grammar-checker: between backrest and screen ;-)

I do not see so much interest for this feature, but I will also
discuss this with "my deputies".

This is a "Wish" project. I do not intend to undertake it unless
significant interest and developers decide to help out. If you have
any interest in helping to design, develop, and implement a Grammar
Checker for the OpenOffice.Org project, please send an e-mail to
discuss@openoffice.org identifying yourself, your skills, your
willingness to lead this project, etc.

I would also love to see an English grammar checker in OOo and I am sure many people agree. 
When presenting OOO to friend and colleagues they often comment on the lack of a grammar 
checker as are used to it in MS-Word and WP.  However, a grammar checker should of course work 
on other platform that Win2000, like the rest of OOo (maybe change the “OSâ€-category on this 
issue?).

I am not a programmer and cannot contribute with technical assistance. But maybe I could help as 
a test user?

One more thing: When trying to follow the URL mentioned in a posting by es (http://
whiteboard.openoffice.org/lingucomponent/grammar.html) I get a “No matches to your request 
were foundâ€.

lingucomponent is now a seperate project and no longer part of whiteboard.
The new link is http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/grammar.html

I change OS and Platform, but still this project is not likely to be implemented
in near future. (patches are welcome)

A grammar checker is a very important part of a word processor.
I am used to use that function in MS Word to check document that I send to
somebody. Today I use OO only to make some personnal document that I do not send
to anybody.
This is maybe the final the big miss of OO word processor.
If it is made, no Word users will be able to argument on the usefulness of OO.
