Description oorene 2006-09-06 06:33:17 UTC
Whilst ibm java is recognised by openoffice during installation and use such as
document format conversion wizard, in the base feature, an error dialogue window
occurs when trying to create a new database. The hsql engine dialogue window
states that the jre is defective. Below is the terminal output prior to
openoffice crash:

(soffice.bin:2399): Gtk-WARNING **: ../../gtk/gtkwidget.c:6689: widget class
`GtkCheckMenuItem' has no property named `indicator_size'

(soffice.bin:2399): Gtk-WARNING **: ../../gtk/gtkwidget.c:6689: widget class
`GtkRadioMenuItem' has no property named `indicator_size'

No activity for a while.
oorlg, are you still experiencing the problem with current 2.3.1 version ?
Comment 5 oorene 2008-01-21 14:24:09 UTC
yes
Comment 6 jbf.faure 2008-01-26 11:17:04 UTC
@oorlg : I have seen there is ibm jdk for versions 5 and 6 of Java
(http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/linux/download.html)
Have you tried it ?
Comment 7 oorene 2008-02-06 13:54:43 UTC
No, generally I change software versions every four years.
Comment 8 jbf.faure 2008-02-09 12:06:19 UTC
Really ? Even for security updates ?
Please can you give the exact version number of your JRE ?
Something like the output of the command "java --version" ?

thanks for your help.
Comment 9 oorene 2008-02-13 10:04:11 UTC
So-called security updated can be ignored. I'm still using mandrake 92 and
openoffice 2 without incident. Programmers waste my time telling users to
update, only to repeat the laborious procedure 1 month later. A four to five
year cycle is perfectly adequate. I certainly don't change cars every 4
months...;)
