Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 69488
Incorect saving excel files with groups
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:13:10 UTC
There is a problem with Excel file. It is price-list which has groups(i use russian version OOo so it's called "groups" there and i don't know how it's called in English - In the left side you click "+" to open group and and "-" to close). When I open the file with OOo everything is OK. But then I try to save simple changes (just leve differnt active cell or modify figures) a message appears saying that it coudn't be saved properly to the Excel format so I save it to OOo file format. When I open the saved file there are two signs "++" insted of "+". It causes unproper displaying the information in the groups. It seems to be a bug. Sorry if i posted dublicate. I didn't find issue on the same problem.
Created attachment 39100 [details] The file before saving
Hi Daniel, your's ? The original xls uses R1/C1 addressing as far as I can tell. Frank
Some more note. If you just close all groups(by clicking on the top left "-") in the saved file then two sings "++" appear as it is descrabed above and open them again the problem dissappear!!!
I also noted that sings "+" or "-" are a bit lower then they are supposed to be in open by OOo xls files.
Hi, I found the bug is fixed in 2.1. The Posted file can be now saved to ods properly. But still there is problem with saving to xls. Calc saves the file to xls with wrong settings for groups: Open the attached file with OO and Save it to xls. Open again with excel (I used 2003) and you will see it has different setting as original . To correct it go - data>group and structure>settings, then uncheck «totals in rows under date» (I translated it form rusian, but original phrases can be different. ) And file is OK. So editing xls file with OO drops proper settings.
change target from 2.x to 3.x according to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Target_3x
