Description icajk 2006-09-20 06:39:05 UTC
Starting today, every time I try to use any part of OpenOffice I get an error
message. I click to send a report but nothing has been resolved. Why, all of a
sudden, can I not use OpenOffice any more? Thank you. (I'm not very computer
savvy, so be patient w/me!) Icajk

Just be more detailed: What are you doing? What is the error message? Which OOo
version do you use: Realy 1.0.1? Ever thought of updating your version? We have
OOo 2.0.3 released! BTW: For support you should subscribe to users@openoffice.org.

Everytime I turn on the computer or try to open OO I get the message
"soffice.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." I then click on "send error report" and close it. But it just
keeps popping up. When I try to open any of the OO components the same error
message pops up and I can't use OO. I tried going to OO setup and repairing only
to get the same error. I then uninstalled and reinstalled and the same error
message popped up and I still can't open OO.
I am very low in my computerese so I'm not sure what's going on. I am on dial
up so I will download the new version at the library and put it on a cd and try
to uninstall the 1.0.1 and use the new version. Do you recommend uninstalling
all files? Thanks for any help!!! J

As a workaround it may help to delete/rename the OOo folder in ../documents and
settings/<username>/applicatioton data/... We don't know of this issue in 1.0.
or 1.1.0 nor in 2.x. This isn't a general problem but depends on your
installation or system.
I would recommend to remove all 1.0.1 files if the workaround has helped.
