Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 70391
Loop reopenning exported DOC containing multi-column section
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:42:49 UTC
I have create document with OO, nothing special. The only non-standard thing is PNG image on the page background. File was created on Linu/Ubuntu with up-to-date OO inside. File was 'saved as' DOC. MS Word is abble to open document, but I don't know if it well formated/... (I don't have MS office to test with). While openning document OO hang-up. It consume 100% CPU (or 50% on my dual machine). I tried Linux and Windoze versions of OO, both do the same. Upgrading to last avilable OO doesnt't help me.
Created attachment 39725 [details] Document created with OpenOffice
I have atached file I was talking about. It's in czech langauge, contaning czech national chars. Text is related to some EU human project :)
Confirmed on OOo 2.0.4 Windows XP. The CPU usage is about 90% and the memory usage goes up slowly.
MRU->OD: open attached document (was created by OOo) ->Loop. The document contains a multi-column section on third page including objects and a table.
confirming on OOo 2.0.3 Linux 2.6.9 with the file provided -> loop
Also confirming on OOo 2.0.0.3 Windows W2K, same issue.
confirming on: WinXP proff. SP2 with OO 2.1 -> ooffice hangs with memory usage growing slowly but steadily
I have been able to replicate this bug successfully using the file provided on Windows XP home ed. SP2 installed, using OOo 2.0.3. I have not been able to reproduce the bug by adding a PNG image to page background in new OpenOffice Writer document and saving it as a "doc" file, closing it and then reopening it in OpenOffice. The given file opens in Ms Word 2003, but with high CPU usage. However, Ms Word 2007 (trial version) hangs with 100% CPU load if the same file is opened and scrolled down.
Loop does not occur anymore due to the implementation of some general loop controls in the Writer layout engine, see issue 81146.
fme->mru: Ready for QA.
Verified in CWS loopcontrol.
Checked fix in OO 2.4 dev build 680m235.
