Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71495
RTF: import of 3rd party document displays only empty page
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:19:37 UTC
This report is created on behalf of a member of the German users-mailinglist. The attached RTF file, which was created using a genealogical program, fails to import in Writer, which displays just an empty page. Microsoft Word however opens and displays this file without problems. If the file is exported to RTF after loading it in word, the result can be used in OOo as well. Please have a look why the import of the original file fails.
Created attachment 40553 [details] Zipfile containing the example file which does not load in OOo and the file after import/export in Word for comparison.
MRU->HBRINKM: the file "orig.rtf" will open in Writer only as an empty page; the whole text wil be ignored. However, creating a new version (also available in the zip) with MS Word will import correctly. It looks that the 3rd party product creates something like a simplified RTF code which Writer isn't able to recognize.
I have a similar behavior: my rtf document is generated with JasperReport, it has text in the top of the page, text and horizontal lines in the bottom. When I open with Open office 3.0 on Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit, OO 3.0 and 3.1 on Windows XP (virtualized host 64 bit, guest 32 bit), I can see just the line. MS Word open file correctly, MS WordPad I can't see the lines but it's normal. Testcase in Attachment Thank you
