Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71672
copy crash
Last modified: 2006-12-18 11:17:53 UTC
When I copy text from an openoffice document and paste it in either and Evolution email or a Thunderbird email, openoffice crashes. This is 100% reproducible. I am on an HP Compaq nx7010 running Ubuntu 6.10 with Openoffice 2.0.4. Thunderbird is 1.5.0.7.
Not reproducible: SuSE 9.3, OOo 2.0.4 (m189) and TB 0.8. Please specify what exactly you paste from where to where and hoe (X-selection, shortcuts, menu...)
The exact steps: 1. select some text from an OO word document (it includes bulleting and numbering). 2. I right click the mouse and select copy 3. I press the write button in Thunderbird 4. I right click the mouse and select paste 5. Openoffice crashes. Now, if I do the above and on the 4th step select "paste without formatting", Openoffice does not crash. This is not a workaround.
I still cannot reproduce it. Please, add a sample document and send a crash report with your OOo e-mail address. Is it an Ubuntu (preinstalled) version of OOo? Please also check for the version number: "Help - About", Ctrl+s, d, t.

This bug is 100% reproducible on my machine. I am using the latest Ubuntu 6.10 release with the integrated OOo (2.0.4-ubuntu2). I am using Tunderbird 1.5.0.8.
The problem is to know if this is reproducible in a genuine OOo build from www.openoffice.org. This looks like a defect of the Ubuntu preinstalled version. Please install the original OOo version. Feel free to reopen if it happens the same in the original OOo version.
It appears this is a duplicate bug but not one that should be dismissed as an Ubuntu-caused bug. It is also present in debian. https://launchpad.net/bugs/62432
So, duplicate to own task. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 71864 ***
