Description joaniediggs 2006-11-19 17:57:33 UTC
There are a number of different strikethrough options available in OOo (single,
double, bold, with /, with X). These variants are not currently being exposed
via at-spi: strikethrough is either True or False. It would be helpful to
users of screen readers to have access to this additional information. Thanks!!

I can confirm this behavior, but OOo behaves exactly like specified at
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/atk/AtkText.html:

ATK_TEXT_ATTR_STRIKETHROUGH "true" or "false" whether the text is strikethrough

Internally, OOo distinguishes between: SINGLE, DOUBLE, DONTKNOW (e.g. multiple
overlapping types), BOLD, SLASH and X).

So we are discussing atk API extension here ..

Still no clue about the best way to expose this information.
Comment 3 joaniediggs 2007-05-14 14:24:05 UTC
I know it is bad to drift away from specifications, but.... If strikethrough
were handled just like underline currently is we'd be set. :-) Just a thought....

I am almost convinced ;-). Only looking for good suggestions on how to name the
values for "with /" and "with X" ..

Excellent! ;-)

Might I suggest, oh, I dunno.... "with /" and "with X"? :-) :-) :-) :-)

Speaking from the screen reader perspective: The reason we want this
information exposed is so that we can speak it and/or braille it when the user
gives the command to examine the formatting of his/her text. Keeping the
exposed types consistent with the names listed in the Strikethrough combo box of
the Character dialog would be ideal because the user would be provided with the
same type information both when applying the formatting and later on when
verifying it.

Thanks!!

This issue is closed automatically and wasn't rechecked in a current version of
OOo. The fixed issue should be integrated in OOo since more than half a year. If
you think this issue isn't fixed in a current version (OOo 3.1), please reopen
it and change the field 'Target Milestone' accordingly.
