Description osavill 2006-11-21 14:07:37 UTC
When dragging the mouse to select text:

Selecting within a page is fine. However, when going over a page boundary the
jump is not smooth. Rather the highlighting stops as you go over the footer and
header and then it starts off again with a jump. Usually you end up a couple of
pages down the document. Trying to recover the situation by dragging the mouse
back up usually results in the selection going the other way by a couple of
pages ! And this all the time holding the left mouse button down !! The only
option is to locate the start of the text again and use <Shift><Down Arrow>, or
<Up Arrow>

Contrast this with Word where the move between pages takes place at a slow,
regular pace so you don't have to test your reactions in trying to stop at
precisely the correct point. In fact Word speeds up or slows down depending how
far away the mouse is from the editing window.

Reassigned to SBA.

So it is, this function is completely unusable (experience with "2.0.2 German
version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" / "2.2.0 Dev. Snapshot WIN XP:
[680m7(Build9118)]").

This is a DUP of issue Issue 53167, even though I do not think that ENHANCEMENT
is an appropriate rating for this annoying and very visible problem.
