Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71910
default path
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:48:16 UTC
Looking for a way to have the default path for file open to 'stick' on each subsequent start of OpenOffice. It appears that the path defined in tools/options/openoffice.org/paths/My Documents is only used the first time OO is executed. After that when you go to open a document it starts at the last path you used. Is there a setting some where to force the file open to the defined path? Kevin
There isn't a setting. When we designed the feature several years ago we intentionally made the default path not persistent. I doubt that having a switch for making it persistent is so important that it justifies the effort to implement it and the additional UI clutter it produces. Most applications I tested (I haven't that much at my hands) do it as we do. I found one exception (MultiEdit) but this is a strange thing in itself. :-) So my current take on that is: won't fix. I invite our UI experts to add some comments here.
OpenOffice.org file picker behaviour is compiant to the system guidelines. I would not recomment to change that. But it might make sense to think about a change which would allow OOo to save the last used path module wise.
For the time being I confirm the issue as the description is correct. I assign the target 2.x to this issue but it's still possible that we close it with "wontfix". We still didn't make up our mind.
according to release status meeting -> target 3.x
Today is 2010, but this bug does not fixed. It's really necessary. Every time I fill in up to 10 templates and save it in one folder (let say /home/ip/Documents/Company 1/Object 1/2010/Inspection/). Default path in settings is /home/ip/Documents/. I open template one, fill in, save it. Then open next, but does not close first. I just want to save second filled in template to same folder like first, but every time I have to jerk left button of my mouse to find exact folder.
I also think, this future needs to be implemented into OOo interface. It could be a [dropdown] history list (path part of recent files list) or some quick editable favorites. Or some else variant. But some type of files saves history *mast to be*, imho.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
