Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 72153
Calc sheet mixed in OLE linked files
Last modified: 2006-12-01 16:43:25 UTC
In writer, trying to link an calc file. Steps : 1/ Create a calc document with 2 sheets, fill some datas 2/ Create a new writer document 3/ Insert / OLE / From file -> select your file and check Linked 4/ In the new box created, double click to open the OLE Calc, chose one of the sheet 5/ repeat 3 & 4, but select the other sheet 6/ save file At opening, you will ALWAYS see same sheet in the 2 boxes, and this is the last sheet you selected when editing your writer document.

Problem is, that it is a link to the Calc file. The last viewed (active) sheet is saved in the source file. Only when NOT updating the links on re-opening the Writer document, the old view of the linked OLE objects will be restored.
Closed.
I aggre that if you didnt update your links, sheets stay the same. I cannot understand how is that OLE is working ; If I want to add a linked OLE object, this is because I need to have an updated witer document while someone updates the numbers in the calc sheet. In short, if I put linked OLE sheets, I's because I need to have an updated datas from that OLE source :) While rearching in the issue tracker to retrive my own bug, I've missed the next one when I added my issue : Issue 64202 http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64202 As I can read, mine is a DUP :(
That's righ, this on is a dup to issue 64202. Nevertheless, I am sure, that this won't be fixable. As you already mentioned, a link is for having updated number. But also the last view of the linked document is stored in the file. So everytime, someone changes the viewed sheet source document (and this is also the case when you double click the linked objet) it is stored in the file and will be part of the object's update process. The container document does not know about the type of the object (if its spreadsheet or drawing or formula etc...), thus the last view cannot be controlled by it. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 64202 ***
