Description Unknown 2002-08-24 23:42:27 UTC
The link function in Data Source Administration times out on some valid and accessible
pages and even after opening a document has been opened successfully continues to
return: 'The file <url> could not be opened'.

moving to component database access
Comment 2 Frank Schönheit 2002-09-24 07:59:19 UTC

could you please describe more precise what you are doing? Sorry, but
from your current writing I do not really understand what you mean :(

Okay, there are actually a few kinks to work out here. If you got to:

Tools -> Data Sources -> Links

And enter a valid URL you sometimes get timeouts and the page fails to
load. (On a completely seperate note, it would be wonderful if there
was functionality like Excel's web query where you can tell it to only
pull data from tables).

Regardless of whether or not the link, loads when you try to close the
Data Source Admin window via the 'OK' or 'Cancel' button it often
hangs for a while and either doesn't close or returns the error dialog
previously submitted. (I've seen both scenarios occur).

Andy, are you talking about web pages (i.e. HTTP-URLs) here? I assume
so (admittedly I personally never used HTTP URLs there, because my
association with this function was more to have forms and reports
linked there ...)

Where do you get the timeout? In the file open dialog opened from
within this dialog? In this dialog when pressing OK? Afterwards when
you try to open this link?

set the status to started.
Comment 6 Frank Schönheit 2002-10-16 07:18:35 UTC
Marc, could you reproduce this?
Comment 7 marc.neumann 2003-02-18 08:13:57 UTC

because it's a MAC problem and you are the main mac developer, I hope.
