Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 72822
slow performance loading 560k Excel file
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:14:03 UTC
loading a sample .xls spreadsheet with 13 sheets and only simply formula takes almost 6mins on win 98 or win XP with 2000/2400+ athlon xp cpu and 512mb ram. if the document is saved as an .ods file, it takes about 4-5 seconds to load. I will add the problem spreadsheet when this is submitted.
Created attachment 41608 [details] xls sheet takes almost 6mins to load
once the spreadsheet has been saved as .ods file and loaded again into calc, saving it as an excel 97/2000/xp file takes 2-3minutes, and loading that new calc-created xls file still takes about 5 minutes There must be a bug somewhere to need 1000000 instructions to decode each byte of the xls file or calc created xls file...
Yes, it does take a long time on OOo 2.1 Linux. On my system (AMD Athlon XP 3000+), about 7 minutes. Maybe CWS hr39 helps (?), but even a 75% reduction would be a long time.
Excel Viewer 97 takes < 3 seconds, so OOo takes two orders of magnitude more. ;)
Hi Daniel, the file task a long time to load, I thought it could be the Charts and stripped them in Excel from the file, bt no luck. Please have a look at this one. Frank
as frank say it maybe chart problems, and iha already working with CWS chart15 I hope it reduce the problems, and faster for this issue too Thanks
This is fixed already with the new chart in OOo 2.3. While loading the attached document with OOo 2.2 takes about 3,1 minutes, loading it with OOo 2.3 takes only 3,4 seconds. Just for information: Loading it with current master ooh680m2 takes 3,1 seconds.
->Frank, please verify in OOo 2.3. Just for information: when checking the performance on the current master, take at least ooh680m2 containing CWS chart15.
found integrated on master OOHm5 using Solaris, Linux and Windows builds
