I've started using Openoffice Impress (2.1) at church for the presentation, and
have noticed that video doesn't play back during the slideshow.

It will play back perfectly during the edit screen, but during a slideshow, I
only get a black rectangle.

Inserting a mpeg file works here for me with version 2.1. Can you attach a
document for reproducing or a short movie file that does not work for you?
