During install while registering components I receive the message
"ucpchelp1.dll component was unable to be registered" in a dialog box with
options retry or skip.

Hi Tino,
I know that you have fixed something for our inhouse versions. I send
this issue as reminder to you that this fix will reach next OOo version.

Still reproducible with OOo643?

I had this same problem installing OO1.01 on Win95 B.

The msvcrt.dll is the cause according to Sun support. So I downloaded
the 'Windows Libraries Update' from Microsoft.com (about1.4Mb) and
installed it as this replaces the msvcrt.dll.

Then rebooted the PC and ran a 'repair'. The ucpchelp.dll error
message did not appear this time. The help components then ran fine
so for me the issue was resolved.

see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q197298

Hope this helps.

Cameron thanks for the suggestion. I retried the install after
downloading the Windows library update - it still fails the same way.
subsequently trying repair did not fix the problem either.

I also have this problem - the msvcrt fix didn't work (probably
because I'm using an early version of Win95). Anyone found a
solution yet?

Thanks to Cameron. He found:

I had success with win95B by:

1. Downloading and installing the MS libraries update here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q197298
2. Rebooting
3. Running the OO setup and choosing repair.

Some people are still having issues though but its worth a try.

Kind Regards

Cameron
