Description lars 2002-08-30 10:19:45 UTC
with todays PCs, file size is less important.

file size only matters when using removable media like diskettes or when
transfering files over the internet.

But for local storage on PCs hdds, file size is not important because of the
hdds enormous capacities.

So attach more importance to load and save times of OOo documents.

If a user needs small size, he can use a seperate compression program which are
all available on all platforms (nearly) and which operate on not precompressed,
so uncompressed data better.

File size is important!
Especially for business where millions of files are archived and for
the internet where to transfer less data means less money and less time.

"File size is important!"

yes, but load times and write time to save crucial data quickly also.

there are seperate better compression utilities like Entropy for text.

but the current functionality doesn't do any harm; I'm just
reopening, so that you know.
