Description skelem 2007-02-06 18:06:52 UTC
I'm using Gnome on SuSE 10.0, Workspace Switcher 2.12.0.

1. Start openoffice Writer on a workspace. An empty document is shown.
2. Select File/Recent Documents/<a document that you've edited before,
preferably large so that this step takes at least 5 seconds). The Loading
Document progress bar in the already-open document window shows the document
3. Switch workspaces. (control-Alt up or down arrow works for me.) Try to do
something useful in workspace #2 while the document is supposedly loading on the
first workspace.
4. When the document has finished loading, the window is displayed on the
current workspace instead of workspace #1 where I opened it. The progress bar
on the already-open window implies that that's where the document will be
opened. Switching back to workspace #1 shows that the original empty document is
no longer there! It's okay that the empty document is not there, but I would
expect the newly-opened document to be in its place on workspace #1.

Framework issue.
Comment 2 jakubsuchy 2007-03-22 22:40:03 UTC
This is bigger problem.
Try following:
1) Open a document on workspace 1
2) Now switch to workspace 2 and open a terminal. Try opening non existing file
(ooffice some-file-which-is-not-here.xls)
3) You are accidentally switched back to workspace 1 with the message "Document
doesn't exist..."

Or sometimes, i do something with one document and accidentally, all my opened
documents skips to current workspace.

Handling workspaces in is really horrible :(

This is so annoying and nobody cared for 6 months?
Comment 4 jbf.faure 2008-02-24 19:20:36 UTC
I do not reproduce the problem described by skelem with OOo 2.4.0 RC1 under
Kubuntu 6.06 : when the document has finished loading, the window is displayed
on the workspace #1 but the view switch suddenly to workspace #1. If I was
typing another document in workspace #2, it loses the focus. I am not sure it
is a defect but it may be annoying.

On the other hand I reproduce the behaviour described by jakubsuchy, but it
seems to me coherent with the previous one.

Still a problem for you?
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2013-08-05 08:14:23 UTC
Closing issue due to Comment 4 and reporter's inactivity.

Please feel free to reopen this issue if you find out that the problem still exists in the latest release of AOO and if you can provide requested additional information.
Comment 7 skelem 2013-08-07 07:32:38 UTC
Yes, it still happens.

Pardon my delay in responding within 2 weeks of you asking me if it was still a problem. After six years of inactivity, I had given up hope.
