Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 74790
E-mail fields CVS/Text displayed as '0'
Last modified: 2007-08-09 11:19:35 UTC
After configuring the connection to a text / CVS file where a comma (,) is a separator, Base displays text fields as numerical values if they contain e-mail addresses. I'm attaching a sample file. Steps to reproduce: 1. connect to the file; 2. set "," as field separator, {None} as text delimiter, and whatever other characters in the other fields. 3. open the table to see that the E-mail column contains '0' instead of my e-mail address. The bug does not appear where there is only a single field.

Hi, I can't reproduce this. The Email is displayed correctly with the bugdoc database table. Can you please attach also the database file. Thanks and bye Marc

I attached the offending database (actually, I recreated the bug in a new one). Note that this could depend on Polish locale, as separators are locale dependent. I haven't tested this in other versions of OOo.
CSV file gets displayed just fine (both with one column and with two) using m209 on WinXP. I even set OO localle to Polish and e-mail value displays correctly. Resolving as WFM.
and closing.
Oops, the attached test file was wrong. See the original description: "The bug does not appear where there is only a single field." But there is only a single field in the file. I'm attaching a different one.

tested on 2.2.0 PL
Confirming with new file and separator set to SEMICOLON (;) using m209 on WinXP - first field "administrator" gets imported as is, but e-mail field is converted to 0. BTW, please do not change Version field - it is supposed to indicate when the problem was detected first.
i can repro that like described - it seems that because of the '.' in the e-mail address the format is interpreted as an invalid number
Chris, any chance for 2.3?
fs->oj: yours
clu->kpalagin: chance yes, but i do not like to gamble with such things ;)
It's the same reason as issue 69965. The email wil be converted into number because the following column is one. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 69965 ***
Closing this one.
