Description r_u_bn 2007-02-26 20:14:44 UTC
Though I believe this handles all drawing object with some arrow(s) attached to
it (connector with arrows, lines with arrows, ..what else is there?), I will for
simplicity go further about it only with connectors with arrows (CWA further

When you place a CWA on the document one can change its arrow style
(Format>Line..>Arrow styles) to e.g. Width 0.10cm - 0.10cm. However, every time
you draw a CWA, you have to redo this. One cannot associate a default style for
arrow styles to CWAs. Sure, one can set the "Default" style to a certain arrow
style and then draw arrowless lines or connectors and get that specific arrow
style you defined, but then one can't draw normal lines anymore! Or one can set
a specific style, say "MyStyle" with those arrow style settings, but then one
has to click the CWAs after drawing and then click "MyStyle" each time...

(The same issue without arrows that doesn't solve it: )

(For any possible use of it, here's a link to an unresolved discussion about

Please try the following: open a new draw and place a CWA. Keep it selected and
open the stylist with F11. The "default" style" is selected , whowing that the
CWA is drawn in that style. Now right click the style, select modify, line tab
and change the line width for the style. Now every line, CWA you will draw in
that style will have the new linewidth. Was that what you were looking for?
Thanks in advance.

That's exactly the wrong example that dóes work, mentioned in 1 of the two links
of my first message, but you're only just a notch besides the problem.

1. You see, follow your procedure exactly, but instead of the "Line>Line
properties>Width" (in quote:"..change the line width for the style.."), change
the "Line>Arrow style>Width". Then you'll see what I mean bc there won't be no
change at all.
2. Maybe try the same when going not via F11, but via "Format>Line...", then you
can see what that "Line>Arrow style>Width" is supposed to do. Not that this last
approach should solve it, but to illustrate the style I am talking about.

Additionally, in Nr. 1 above, you'll maybe also notice that there isn't any
"Line>Arrow style>Style" defined. If you would, then it would still not work
for CWAs, but all your non-arrow lines would suddenly get an arrow! Can you see
the problem more clear now?

Anyway, my point is to make it possible to draw a CWA width a direct & default
"Line>Arrow style>Width".

"Anyway, my point is to make it possible to draw a CWA width a direct & default
"Line>Arrow style>Width"."
should be (**width->with**):
Anyway, my point is to make it possible to draw a CWA with a direct & default
"Line>Arrow style>Width".

I have just come across the same problem. Changing the style is not useful as
the style is applied to all lines, not just the selected line type. The logical
way for this to work would be to choose Format-Line. If no line is preselected
it should set a default value. If a line is preselected it should apply the
change to that line only.

For styles to be useful it must apply the change selectively.
