Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7570
Keyboard shortcut for single copy duplications
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:20 UTC
I can see that in Draw there's a dialog to get an array of copies of selected objects. That is fine, but it's a little complicated if you only want a single copy. In Powerpoint and other office programs I can get a duplicate of the selection by simply pressing CTRL-D: easy and fast. Assigning a shortcut to the dialog box doesn't solve the problem, since it's a little bit disturbing (it's more an usability issue than a missing feature...).
Andrea, thanks again for your suggestions.
Reassigned to Falko.
Why not just using the combo <ctrl>+c, <ctrl>+v?
It is too complicate to duplicate objects. Instead of invoking the dialogue (Edit - Duplicate) we should use this entry to just duplicate the exsiting object (assign CTRL+D as hotkey). To access the old dialogue we will add a new menu entry "Edit - Duplicate options..." (CTRL+SHIFT+D hot key)

This feature would seem to be covered by the simple Ctrl-C followed by Ctrl-V key combination. A somewhat related issue is how objects are added to the drawing. If you are adding a number of boxes and connecting arrows it is tiresome to have to keep clicking the icon you want on the Drawing toolbar. There should be a shortcut to reselect the last tool used.
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".
